We are passionate about drums and their role in helping to make and performing music. As experienced drummers we have some insight into what works to generate the best results musically; our aim here is to provide access to key pieces of our equipment to help you achieve similar results yourself!

All the gear show on this site is available to hire for studio recordings , live shows and festival settings as well as film and TV set props – we also have a huge amount of cymbals + other backline equipment including synthesisers / guitar and bass amps and an upright acoustic bass not shown here,  but please feel free to ask and we can help you source these things

get in touch

We can drop off and collect items to and from venues / studios and also welcome you to pick up and drop off too to help you save on costs , each drum set or snare drum varies in price in terms of hire fee (get in touch to find out how much to hire for a night).

any damage to equipment will be covered by the hirer ( we are not fussy about drum heads tho )

Alex Freer

Alex Freer grew up in the eastern suburbs of Tāmaki Makarau, and would regularly spend weekends in his parents’ garage sandwiching two drum kits together to emulate the likes of Keith Moon and John Bonham. He studied jazz drums at Auckland University and followed up with a teaching diploma. Alex has played for the likes of Tiny Ruins, Ladyhawke, Lontalius, and Finn Andrews, and writes and records his own songs under the moniker A.C. Freazy.

Chris O’Connor

Award winning composer Chris O’Connor is the drummer in The Phoenix Foundation. He has toured the globe playing drums for Don McGlashan, Neil Finn, Richard Nunns, Grada, Cloudboy and Tami Neilson. Chris is equally comfortable amongst the pop stylings of SJD, the formal refinement of the Auckland Chamber Orchestra and the freely improvised ecstasies of Jeffery Henderson. In demand as a session musician, he appears on over 50 albums, and his playing can be heard on the silver screen, including Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and Taika Waititi’s Hunt for the Wilder People. A passionate teacher, Chris has inspired students at Auckland University, Massey University, and Unitec. Chris is currently studying towards a Masters of Music Therapy.
